USAT Liberty shipwreck

The USAT Liberty wreck in Bali is a must-visit for divers. Located in Tulamben, this dive site is world-renowned. Just a half-hour drive from our dive center in Amed, we offer our divers the opportunity to explore this magnificent wreck daily. A dive on the USAT Liberty never disappoints!

The USAT Liberty was a 120-meter long cargo ship of the U.S. Army. It was torpedoed by a Japanese submarine on January 11, 1942, between the islands of Lombok and Bali, and was left stranded halfway on the beach of Tulamben. Over the years, it was gradually dismantled by local residents to salvage its materials. In 1963, during the eruption of Mount Agung, the USAT Liberty slid into the water and now rests at a depth of 7 to 35 meters in the bay of Tanjung Muntik. It has since become an extremely popular dive site.

Over the years, the Liberty wreck has become a dynamic artificial reef and a thriving ecosystem. Hard and soft corals have attached themselves to the structure of the ship, attracting a wide variety of tropical fish and many other marine species.

Jemeluk bay

Jemeluk Bay, located just minutes away from Oxygen Dive Center Bali, is one of the most popular dive sites in Amed. Nestled at the foot of Mount Agung, this bay features a picturesque beach dotted with small jukungs belonging to local fishermen.

What makes Jemeluk Bay even more exceptional is the initiative taken by local diving associations over the past decade. They have sunk several statues to adorn the underwater landscapes of the bay. These statues have become sought-after shelters for corals and the marine ecosystem surrounding them. It is a visual delight for divers, who can admire these unique creations while exploring the underwater beauty of Jemeluk.

Pyramids

The Pyramids, formerly known as the Congkang Reef, are among the most popular dive sites in Amed, Bali. Located near Oxygen Dive Center Bali, this site consists of a natural coral reef adorned with artificial pyramids made from concrete blocks created by Balinese diving associations in 1995.

When diving at the Pyramids site in Amed, you will discover approximately 30 hollow pyramids that have been colonized by marine life over the past 20 years. They are located at a depth of 20 meters.

Opt for a jukung experience, a traditional Balinese fishing boat, which will take you to the pyramids, offering an exciting drift dive.

The artificial structures add an extra appeal by creating habitats for a variety of marine creatures. Corals have developed on the pyramids, attracting a multitude of colorful tropical fish. You may also spot larger species, such as trevallies, moray eels, and perhaps even the sea turtles that frequent the area.
